How much attention should you pay to the shoes you select to wear for an outing?
Is it sufficient to wear a great looking dress that could perhaps reduce the importance of the shoes you wear?

There is so much for a woman to think about when choosing her outfit that it can be easy to overlook the importance of selecting the right pair of shoes.

Very often, we find that people, who otherwise dress elegantly, fail to pay sufficient attention to choosing the right pair of shoes to go with their dress.

Obviously, the dress should take first place in order of importance but shoes also need a lot of thought. If sufficient consideration has not gone into selecting your shoes, they could spoil the fine impression your dress might otherwise make. Conversely, if you have paid due care, the shoes could enhance the effect your dress has.

What style of shoes you choose depends heavily on the design of your outfit. If the dress you wear has a long train or other design that all but covers the shoes then you need to pay less importance on the pattern or accessories of the shoes you choose.

However, if you are planning on wearing something that will not cover your shoes, the shoes become a major part of your outfit, and you must take sufficient care to select the right pair to wear.

The emphasis should be on choosing a pair of shoes that match the color of the dress but are comfortable to wear at the same time. It is also possible to have comfortable shoes made with the same material that the dress is made from. This needs some advance planning to make sure you have the shoes when you need them. This would be a lovely finishing touch and would complement the outfit completely.

However, it is not the material or pattern of the shoes that is the most important factor in choosing them. The major influence in deciding which shoes to choose should be comfort itself.

If your shoes are uncomfortable, your discomfort is bound to show on your face, during the course of your day. After that you will no longer be able to enjoy yourself, as you will remain distracted.

Of course, your shoes need to be appropriate for the setting of the occasion as well as being comfortable to wear for a whole day. You should still be able to keep a smile on your face!

A word of advice is to break the shoes in by wearing them ahead of the big day. Often, we see people buying new shoes to wear for a special occasion, and not bothering to break them in before the event. As a result the shoes bite, or worse cause painful blisters.

To break your shoes in, you can wear them when you are at home. If you wear your shoes around your home you will not risk their being scuffed or damaged but will feel far more comfortable to wear on the day of your outing.
